Harry Westlake, in 1948, created a powerful 6 cylinder engine for the makers of the Jaguar. There’s nothing like gut wrenching pure unadulterated horse power. The engine that comes to my mind when you talk about pure horse power is the 426 Hemi. Produced with heads, that had hemispherical combustion chambers and a set of valves sitting at a 58-degree angle, on top of the combustion chambers. This engine allowed a Hot Rodder more airflow and bigger valves. The results were mega power output! The Hemi was a sign of the times.
